Refunds
CONDITIONS OF REFUNDS/EXCHANGES
- Refunds or exchanges can only be issued with the original receipt or proof of purchase.
- We reserve the right to ask customers to present Student ID or government issued photo ID.
- Refunds can only be issued back to the same method of payment used. We require the original debit, credit or student card used at the time of the purchase to be present at the time of refund.
- We will exchange items deemed defective.
- Errors at cash register must be claimed at time of purchase.
- All refunds/exchanges are at the discretion of store personnel.
POLICY DETAILS:
A) COURSE MATERIALS (excludes exceptions listed in D)
SUMMER 2025
- Anything purchased from April 21 to May 16 may be returned up until May 31.
- Purchases between May 17 until May 30 are eligible for refund within 14 days of purchase.
- Purchases after May 30 are non-refundable.
- Textbooks purchased for a School of Continuing Studies Course are refundable within 14 days of the start of the course.
B) GENERAL MERCHANDISE
- Most non-course related merchandise may be refunded/exchanged within 45 calendar days of original purchase, in perfect, unused condition.
- All products must be in their original packaging.
- All clothing and accessory items must be unused, unwashed, unworn with the tag attached.
C) TYPES OF REFUNDS AND DATES
All product purchased in-store or online can be returned for a refund in-store, with the original receipt. For online purchases that are shipped back to the bookstore, shipping fees are the responsiblity of the customer. Please see our hours of operation (click here).
Please note for refunds of online orders original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the return is due to an error in processing or shipping by the Bookstore.
Abandoned Pickup Orders
If you selected pickup as your delivery option when placing your online order, we will hold your order for a minimum of 21 days from the time you receive your 2nd email confirmation. If during that time, you wish to cancel your order, please email us at askyub@yorku.ca. After that time, at a date of our discretion, your order will be cancelled, and your transaction refunded less a $10 restocking fee (+HST). Please note: there are several items that are non-refundable according to our policy and those items, will not be refunded.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION
When determining refund eligibility, purchase date is defined as:
- In person purchase – the date the purchase was made in store.
- Online purchase – the date the online order was shipped from the bookstore.
D) NO REFUND OR EXCHANGES ON:
- Textbook packages with shrink wrap removed, course kits, custom publications, course materials with a missing component or special orders
- Lab coats, scrubs, goggles, dissection kits and lab manuals
- Course associated Day1Digital fees, access codes, ebooks, CEBs and Licenses
- Coil bound materials
- Any item marked “final sale”
- Printer cartridges, electronic goods and batteries.
- Confectionery items.
- Locks.
- Osgoode locker rentals
- Medical equipment.
- Gift cards / phone cards.
- Stamps and other post office items.
- Courier and mailing services offered by Canada Post.
- Custom general merchandise items.
- Graduation rings.
- Personal items such as earplugs, ear buds, swimwear etc.
- All writing instruments.
- Magazines, Journals, coil bound materials.
- Study notes, examination and preparation books/disks: LSAT, GMAT, GRE, SAT, MSCE, MCSD, CNE etc.
- Certain art supplies: cut canvas and mylar, newsprint, sheets of fine art paper, drawing instruments, paint brushes, ink, photographic paper and film. Packaged items must remain unopened.
Day1Digital
1) Billing and Refunds
If you are Opted in to the Day1Digital(D1D) program past the deadline, you have agreed to purchase the digital material and your student account will be billed the non-refundable fee on our next Day1Digital billing date as shown below. Please note these dates are approximate and may vary depending on processing time.Summer Courses 2025

Unless you withdraw from the course by the withdrawal deadline shown below, the “opt-in” fee is non-refundable.
2) Withdraw from the course
If you drop the course on or before the Day1Digital Withdrawal Deadline, your student account will not be billed for the eBook fee.
